Very high American tariffs on Chinese goods are nothing new. President Biden had already gone that route in May 2024, as did President Trump in his first presidential term. President Biden had also approved even more heightened tariffs in September 2024 (see www.utilitydive.com/news/joe-biden-china-tariff-hikes-ev-battery-semiconductor-final/727014/).

The ploughman's lunch, a British pub menu staple, includes everything from hard cheeses and chutneys to fresh bread and cold meats. While it is often associated with farmers, the contemporary form we enjoy today most likely developed in the 1950s and was popularised in the 1960s, due to an advertising effort undertaken by the UK's Milk Marketing Board to encourage cheese sales.

Joseph Gatt The present view of La Borsa in Valletta, Malta, also known as the Exchange Building, presently hosting The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, and which in the 19th century had been home for both the Anglo-Maltese Bank and the Banco di Malta simultaneously. The impressive statue that in the 19th century had adorned the open balcony above the colonnades, is sadly gone.

Understanding the effects of Trump's tarrifs on the automobile industry

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A 25% tariff over practically all imports is set to go into effect in the first days of April, in the USA. In as far as the automobile market is concerned, Tesla is poised to win big, as all the cars that it sells in America are fully assembled within the U.S., and furthermore, it also sources 60-70% of its parts from within the U.S. as well.

By contrast however, the other Big Three automakers (Ford, GM, and Stellantis) are likely to face strong headwinds, as the production costs of their vehicles will be more strongly impacted.

Eric Roberts is an American actor who has amassed more than 700 credits and is one of the most prolific English-speaking screen actors. He typically plays manipulative villians, such as Paul Snider, the homicidal husband of Playboy playmate Dorothy Stratten, in Bob Fosseโ€™s 1983 biopic โ€œStar 80โ€, in the 1996 Doctor Who movie, where he was cast as the Master (Doctor Who's archenemy), as the mob boss Sal Maroni, an enemy of Batman in the 2008 movie "The Dark Knight", and as James Munroe, the lead villain in the 2010 movie "The Expendables". He is also Julia Roberts' brother.

Eric Roberts resides in a secluded Sherman Oaks home in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, with his wife of 26 years, and a brood of felines. The residence's grounds cover approximately 0.32 acres, and include a garden, patio and pool.

Cat behaviourist Jackson Galaxy, visits Eric Robert's home in the 2017 "My cat from hell" episode: https://www.tvinsider.com/240996/my-cat-from-hell-jackson-galaxy-eric-roberts-cat-brooklyn-video/

Eric Roberts selected his Sherman Oaks residence for its ability to offer respite from the relentless public attention that comes with a successful acting career, which stands in contrast to the more frenetic energy of nearby Hollywood.

This how "Ancient Aliens" on History Channel fakes images. An image of the original relief carving from the Temple of Isis at Philae, an island on the Nile River (which has since been painstakingly relocated on Agilkia island between 1977 and 1980 because of the construction of the Aswan Dam), has been clearly photoshopped to include an alien-looking face (upper part), and a flying saucer (lower part of the image). It is very disappointing that this series has resorted to such dirty tricks. (Please click on the images to see them in full size.)

President Trump has been making some changes to the Oval Officeโ€™s fireplace area. One of the first victims of this changeover was the famous Swedish ivy which President John F. Kennedy had received as a gift from Irish ambassador Thomas J. Kiernan in 1961, and which has since served as the backdrop for some of the most well-known White House public highlights, such as George H.W. Bushโ€™s casual chat with Bruce Willis and Nelson Mandela, Ronald Reaganโ€™s meeting Gorbachev, and Jimmy Carterโ€™s meeting with Yitzhak Rabin or just lunching with his wife, Rosalynn. The tenacious plant not only made it through Trump's first term, but was also a witness to the presidential transitional meeting between Trump and Joe Biden following the 2024 election. However after President Trump took office, this iconic plant was swiftly replaced with an array of seven golden artifacts, and it was not there even for the meeting that took place two days between President Trump and Micheรกl Martin, Irelandโ€™s current prime minister.

Another item that has been replaced in this changeover is the small coffee table in front of the fireplace, which has been replaced with a more elaborate one with cabriole legs and a highly reflective lacquered top that is well suited to show off the golden presidential cigar box (which has Trumpโ€™s own name emblazoned on its side for all to see) together with a stack of what appear to be four golden coasters โ€” the lacquered top as well as the coasters and cigar box all proudly display the presidential seal. In the meantime the chairsโ€™ upholstery around the presidential coffee table has been replaced from Bidenโ€™s unassuming plain beige, to an elaborate sofa tapestry with a golden hue. Likewise Bidenโ€™s circular blue rug has also been replaced with a beige one, though the floral motif woven at the rugโ€™s edge has apparently been retained.

Furthermore, as of 12th March, a large golden motif has been prominently affixed to the Oval Officeโ€™s marble mantelpiece. Furthermore, the fireplaceโ€™s glass cover (with its two metal handles) has been removed, a golden wooden log holder has been placed next to the fire grate, whilst some of the fireplaceโ€™s brickwork appears to have been scrubbed clean from the soot.

Whilst some slight modifications to suit personal tastes are expected when a new President assumes office, traditional Oval Office dรฉcor should not be recklessly cast aside, since the Oval Office should symbolise continuity and stability, rather than a veritable all-out assault on presidential norms.
