This picture shows how deeply connected elephant families are. They are mother & daughter which met after 12 years at Halle zoo, Germany last week. Not only they recognized each other but also met with much love. That small one is grand-daughter.

Old one was sent to Berlin 12 years back. Last week when she came back to Halle, this is how she was welcomed. It seems they were always waiting to meet again.

This not only shows their sharp memory but also deep emotional bonding. And we sometime equate heartless with animals !
