This picture shows how deeply connected elephant families are. They are mother & daughter which met after 12 years at Halle zoo, Germany last week. Not only they recognized each other but also met with much love. That small one is grand-daughter.
Old one was sent to Berlin 12 years back. Last week when she came back to Halle, this is how she was welcomed. It seems they were always waiting to meet again.
This not only shows their sharp memory but also deep emotional bonding. And we sometime equate heartless with animals !

The Balkan lynx is a subspecies of the Eurasian lynx. As its name suggests, it is native to the Balkan peninsula. It is critically endangered because of illegal poaching and habitat destruction. It has been on the brink of extinction for nearly a century, with total numbers estimated to be fewer than 50.

This used to be a common sight. Unfortunately, thanks to increased urbanisation, it is now quite rare to get to see this.
