Sometimes, a halo can be seen surrounding the moon when it's low in the horizon and the sky is clear. Additionally, one can occasionally glimpse a brilliant point that looks like a second moon inside that halo, especially during the winter months. This is an optical phenomenon known as a paraselene, also popularly called a moon dog or a mimic moon. When the actual moon is bright enough for its light to reflect off the ice crystals floating in the atmosphere, this 'false' moon may become visible.

The sun sets in the West, and Land's End in Cornwall happens to be the most westerly location of mainland England, viewed here across the seasons (winter and summer) ― click on image to view in full size. A snow covered coastal landscape during the chill of winter, whilst in late summer heather, wildflowers, sea campion, wild thyme and lichen bloom all over.
It was once known as Belerion, the dazzling realm, and the legendary lost land of Lyonesse mentioned in Arthurian literature is claimed to lie somewhere between this location, and the Isles of Scilly, submerged beneath the waters.
The natural sea arch is an iconic feature of the famous Enys Dodman island, whilst the Longships, a collection of rocky islets located just over a mile (1.6 km) offshore, now home to a modern lighthouse, along with the Seven Stones Reef and the Isles of Scilly, located roughly 28 miles (45 km) southwest, are said to form part of the aforementioned mythological lost realm of Lyonesse.
The Brocken spectre optical illusion happens when a person's own shadow is projected onto a low cloud. The said spectre is often surrounded by a rainbow halo. It is an eerie natural visual effect that used to unnerve mountain climbers. Note that whilst the Brocken happens to be the highest peak in northern Germany, standing at 1,141 metres high, the Brocken spectre effect can also naturally occur on other high, misty mountain peaks. Encompassing an area of more than 3.4 million acres, and spread over both California and Nevada, Death Valley National Park is the most extensive national park in the United States, and contains a diverse array of landscapes, such as salt plains, volcanic slopes, wide sand dunes, and far-off snowcapped mountain tops.
Fresh water comes across salty sea water at the Ter River estuary, near L'Estartit, in Girona province, Catalonia, Spain.
