A snow covered coastal landscape during the chill of winter, whilst in late summer heather, wildflowers, sea campion, wild thyme and lichen bloom all over.
It was once known as Belerion, the dazzling realm, and the legendary lost land of Lyonesse mentioned in Arthurian literature is claimed to lie somewhere between this location, and the Isles of Scilly, submerged beneath the waters.
The natural sea arch is an iconic feature of the famous Enys Dodman island, whilst the Longships, a collection of rocky islets located just over a mile (1.6 km) offshore, now home to a modern lighthouse, along with the Seven Stones Reef and the Isles of Scilly, located roughly 28 miles (45 km) southwest, are said to form part of the aforementioned mythological lost realm of Lyonesse.
