On Tuesday, 18th January 2022, the members of the European Parliament elected Roberta Metsola Tedesco Triccas as their President. Roberta Metsola received an absolute majority of 458 votes out of 690 cast, becoming the youngest ever President, the first Maltese person to hold the office, and the first woman President since 2002. Joseph Gatt I didn't know that a "Hugging Day" existed, Mary Jo. Turns out however that you are 100% right (as you often are) : the 21st of January is indeed "International Hug Day" since 1986! The day even has its very own website: https://nationalhuggingday.wordpress.com/
