Joseph Gatt Yes, this is a very informative flowchart, showing how music evolved from jazz and country. I had come across it first about ten years ago when I was preparing my dissertation. However it was already around for some time as apparently it was used in the 2003 'The School of Rock' comedy film. A very impressive infographic, wonder who made it! 😃
When I read that Procul Harum were coming to play in Malta, some 6 years ago, I remember telling my wife, this was one concert I wasn't going to miss. Granted, Gary Brooker was the only remaining member from the original 1967 line-up, but Brooker was the voice of the band and once you throw in a Hammond Organ, how could they fail to get a good "Whiter Shade of Pale". Then, of course there was his age, I knew there wouldn't be much chance of seeing him touring again. Sadly, Gary passed on 19 February 2022 at the age of 76, so there you have it. RIP Gary!
Now about "Whiter Shade ....." it was the encore song, I was a bit tired, especially the waiting, but not such a bad job. The sound is good considering I was using a mobile from 2016. The almost 173k views must mean something 😉
Timmy Walsh Yes, this is quite a classic! 🎵 🎹 🎸 ❤
I was a bit hesitant to post Genesis in this group, but I noticed there are other prog tracks here. The Gabriel era remains the favourite amongst the fans. There are many videos out there of early 70s Genesis but never came across one so good, as this one. Shot in 4k and great sound all the way from 1973.
This song was released in January 1989 as the band's second single. The recording features all of the Wilburys excepting Bob Dylan as lead singers; George Harrison, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison sing the choruses in turn, while Tom Petty sings the verses. The song was mainly written by Harrison however, all five members of the group received a songwriting credit in keeping with the collaborative concept behind the Wilburys project.
Filmed during their from 19 August 1988 to 23 August 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, with some additional footage from 21–22 June 1988 at the Place d'Armes of the Château de Versailles, Versailles, France. It was initially released on VHS, Video CD and Laserdisc formats. The film was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video at the 32nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Enjoy !
Peter Azzopardi Great concert! Always had a soft spot for Rachel Fury, English rose, she sings the first part of Great Gig In The Sky (at 1:03:00). Awesome voice!
Metallica are arguably the most widely known and commercially successful heavy metal band of all time, with an estimated 120 million albums sold worldwide.
Peter Azzopardi I've got mixed feelings when it comes to Metallica. Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman (awesome riff) would be the tracks I know best. And they are brilliant, but I had joined up with many others back in the early noughties to ban Metallica. In retaliation to developments, created by the likes of drummer Lars Ulrich to close down Napster. Napster was the original mp3 file sharing network. Powerful forces managed to close it down. A year or so later Apple got into the lucrative mp3 business.
Blue Oyster Cult - (Don't Fear) The Reaper
Deep and philosophical, just the way I like it!
Billy Idol - Eyes Without A Face (Awesome Extended Version 20+ minutes)
One of the most important progressive rock album of all time:
