Malta's Labour party won the 2026 general election with only a 10,852 vote advantage.
Malta's Labour party obtained 158,444 votes, i.e. 51.77% of all valid votes cast. The other political actors combined, obtained 147,592 votes, i.e. 48.23% of all valid votes cast. The difference between Malta's Labour party, and all the other polictical actors combined, amounts only to 10,852 votes.
Malta's mainstream media is reporting that the Labour party won with a 21,721 vote advantage, but this is actually incorrect, because the valid votes cast for the non-mainstream political actors are being overlooked, i.e. Malta's mainstream media are ignoring non-mainstream political actors and depicting the 2026 election as if it was merely a two party race (between the MLP and the PN), when it really was not.
