    Joseph Gatt Mural paintings
    August 10, 2025, 4:06 pm -

The above images show the underground pedestrian walkway within the Antiguo neighbourhood, that connects the beach of Ondarreta with that of La Concha, in San Sebastián city, Spain. The first image was taken in 2013, whilst the second one was taken later, after the completion of the ItsasArte-MiramArt project in 2016. Thanks to this artistic project, this once drab-looking pedestrian subway through which an average of 18,725 people pass daily, was artistically converted into a magical tunnel that made people feel as if they are passing through a seascape. If only we could have more art like this, to tone down the bland monotony of modern architecture.
